Tshwane and West Rand regions have begun standing up ward-level campaign offices ahead of the registration weekend, with a particular focus on young people and first-time voters.

Each office is expected to carry a registration desk, a service delivery complaints log and a volunteer roster. Regions have been asked to place offices in high-footfall locations — taxi ranks, clinics, community halls and shopping precincts — rather than in party premises that residents rarely enter.

In Tshwane, human settlements MMC Aaron Maluleka is understood to be the region's likely mayoral candidate, with roads and transport MMC Tlangi Mogale as the alternative. Regional leadership has asked branches not to campaign for individuals ahead of the national announcement.

In the West Rand, structures in Merafong, Mogale City and Rand West City are pairing registration work with a jobs desk for retrenched mineworkers, in a district still absorbing the effects of continued mine downscaling.
