Have your say

The Legislature is required to involve the public in its work. Most residents never use these channels because they do not know they exist — a petition costs nothing and obliges a committee to consider the matter.

Submit a petition

Any resident may petition the Legislature in writing about a policy or a service delivery failure. Petitions are referred to the relevant committee, which can call departments to account.

Speak at a public hearing

Hearings are convened across Gauteng for every Bill before the House, so residents' views are heard before a law is passed.

Attend a committee meeting

Committees meet regularly with civil society organisations on legislative and service delivery matters.

Watch a House sitting
